History
The Marqués de la Ribera founded the herd in 1941 with cows of Villamarta and Parladé origin acquired from Clemente Tassara. In 1953 he transferred it to his sons Alfonso and Antonio Jiménez de Sandoval. Alfonso's share was acquired in 1954 by Ana Peña, widow of Campos. In 1956 all the Parladé stock was removed. In 1966 she acquired an Urquijo breeding bull, ‘Ordenado’, number 8. On her death in 1970, her son Francisco Campos Peña inherited the herd; in 1981 he acquired two breeding bulls from Félix Cameno. In 1991 he transferred the herd to his sons Ernesto and Francisco. In 1992 they acquired cattle from Miguel Higuero Taberné of pure Juan Contreras origin, which were transferred in 2001 to the new applicant brand ‘Toros de Contreras’.
