History
Founded in the late 18th century by Don Javier Guendulain, the herd passed successively to his son and grandson, from whom Don Nazario Carriquiri bought it in 1850. He adopted the brand still used today. In 1883, he acquired part of the Espoz y Mina herd. Don Nazario Carriquiri's heirs sold it in 1908 to Don Bernabé Cobaleda, who re-established it in 1925 with cows and a breeding bull from Conde de la Corte. It subsequently passed to Don Juan Cobaleda Sánchez in 1929, his heirs in 1961 and Don Andrés Parladé Martín in 1964. In 1988, it was bought by Don Antonio Briones Díaz, who restored the original Carriquiri brand name, removed a very substantial proportion of the earlier cattle and introduced fresh blood with cows and breeding bulls from the heirs of Don Carlos Núñez, Manolo González and González Sánchez-Dalp. In 1996, 1997 and 2000, cows and breeding bulls were acquired from Alcurrucén.
