- History
- The herd was founded around 1940 by D. Julián Escudero Nuño. When it was divided through inheritance, one lot went to his daughter Dª María Escudero Muriel, who expanded it with cattle from the Vizconde de Garci-Grande. Her herd was sold in 1959 to D. Pedro Luis García Carranza. In 1960 he sold it to D. José Luis Hidalgo Rincón, who died shortly afterwards, and it was subsequently advertised under his heirs’ name. In 1979 they removed all the cattle and acquired cows and two stud bulls from Herederos de don Carlos Núñez. In 1981 it was bought by the Rubio Villadiego brothers, who transferred all the D. Carlos Núñez cattle to D. Francisco Rubio and acquired a large lot of cows and two stud bulls from Torrestrella (D. Álvaro Domecq) for their own brand. In 1983 it was acquired by La Tauromaquia, S.A.T., which sold it in 1984 to D. Cayetano Muñoz. He retained only the Torrestrella bloodline and later acquired 100 cows and two stud bulls from Toros de El Torero. In 1992 he purchased 90 yearling heifers and three stud bulls from Los Guateles. In 2008 he acquired 180 cows and 5 stud bulls from Los Guateles. In 2011 the herd was expanded with 100 cows and 8 stud bulls of Torrealta origin through El Toñanejo, kept entirely separate. In 2019 and 2020 all cattle of Torrealta, Torrestrella and El Torero origin were removed, leaving only Los Guateles cows and stud bulls in the herd.
