History
Don José Luis Ximénez de Sandoval, Marqués de la Ribera, founded this herd in 1949 with cattle from Don Clemente Tassara. In 1954, he gave the herd to his sons Don Alfonso and Don Antonio. The latter inherited the original brand and ribbon colours and sold it in 1964 to Doña Pilar Herráiz García de Urquijo, who adopted the brand used today. That same year, she acquired a substantial group of cattle from Don Carlos Urquijo and removed all the earlier stock. In 1970, Don José Murube Escobar purchased the herd, selling it in turn to its current owners in 1984. In 1987, it was enlarged with a group of cows from Don José Murube. In 1997 and 1998, cows from Martelilla, of Ganadería Marqués de Domecq origin, were acquired and all the earlier cattle removed.
