- History
- This herd descends from the one founded by the Marqués de la Conquista with Jijona cattle. It later passed to the matador Don Francisco Arjona ‘Cúchares’, in partnership with Don Santiago Martínez. Cúchares's share was bought by Don Mauricio Rosendo, from whom it passed in 1868 to Don Carlos López Navarro. Subsequently, his widow sold it to the Herrera Olea family, from whom Don Luis Baeza bought it in 1909. He in turn sold it in 1917 to Don Pacomio Marín, who removed the earlier cattle and re-established it with cows from Don Julián Fernández Veragua. In 1944, it was divided among his children, with one share going to Don Francisco Marín Marcos. He sold it in 1966 to Don Tomás García Castaño, who sold it in 1973 to Don Luis Sánchez Ortiz de Urbina, entering it as El Sierro. In 1977, the herd was established with cows and breeding bulls from Don Atanasio Fernández. It became the property of El Sierro de Sepúlveda, S.L. in 1995. In 2009, the earlier cattle were removed and replaced with cattle from Hermanos García Jiménez, of Don Juan Pedro Domecq bloodlines through Don Juan Pedro Domecq Solís and Jandilla.
