- History
- Don Antonio Jiménez founded this herd with cattle from Veragua and the Flores family of Albacete. His grandson, Don Francisco Jiménez Coppel, added cattle from Santa Coloma and Argimiro Pérez Tabernero. Sold in 1930, it passed successively to the Pérez Bernal family and Don Juan José Parrilla Merino, who sold it in 1946 to Don José Castellano Duque. In 1954, it passed to Don Julián Castellano López, who sold it that same year to Doña Natividad Jiménez del Rey. In 1957, it was purchased by Doña Vicenta Pérez Lozano, who entered it as Los Campillones and sold it in 1962 to the Pérez Herrero family, who changed the brand. In 1975, it was bought by El Torreón de la Miranda, S.A. In 1977, it was renamed El Torreón, and the earlier Contreras cattle were removed and replaced with cows and breeding bulls from Torrestrella, Algarra, Jandilla and Juan Pedro Domecq. In 1993, cows and breeding bulls were acquired from Toros del Torero. In 1999, Don Julio César Rincón Ramírez became the largest shareholder in El Torreón de la Miranda, S.A.
