- History
- In 1873, D. Fernando de la Concha y Sierra established this herd with cattle from Taviel de Andrade and Castrillón. When D. Fernando died in 1887, most of it passed to his widow, Dª Celsa Fontfrede, and then to her daughter Dª Concepción de la Concha y Sierra in 1929. Following the death of Dª Concepción de la Concha y Sierra in 1966, it was advertised under the name of D. Juan de Dios Pareja Obregón y García. In late 1968 he sold it to D. José Luis Martín Berrocal, and it was sold in 1970 to King Ranch España, S.A., under the name “Los Millares”. In 1979 it was acquired by D. Miguel Báez Espuny, who advertised it as “Toros de Concha y Sierra”. The breeding ranch was acquired in 1994 by María Luisa, S.A. Explotaciones Agropecuarias and advertised as “Ganadería de Concha y Sierra”. In 1997, 57 cows from “La Dehesilla” and a breeding bull from D. José Luis Pereda were acquired. In 2007 all cattle descended from “La Dehesilla” and D. José Luis Pereda were removed, leaving only pure Vázquez-line cattle. In 2013 it was acquired by SCEA ganadería Valverde, which retained the brand and advertised name. In 2021 José María López López acquired it and brought it back to Spain. Today it consists of pure Vázquez-line cattle.
