- History
- The herd was established in 1920 by D. Fernando Sánchez Rico with cattle originating from Contreras. In 1929 it was acquired by D. Jerónimo Díaz Alonso, who added a lot of females from Martínez. His heirs sold it in 1939 to D. Manuel González Martín “Machaquito”, who increased it with other Contreras cattle he already owned. In 1940 he transferred half the herd to the Conde de Ruiseñada, and in 1957 he sold the entire herd to D. Baltasar Ibán Valdés, who changed the brand. Following his death, it was advertised under his heirs' names in 1976. In 1997, after the death of owner D. José Luis Moratiel Ibán, it was acquired by his heirs, who formed “Ganadería Ibán, S.L.”, the herd's current owner. In 2004 it began to be advertised as “Baltasar Ibán”.
