History
The herd descends from that established by Don Fernando Pérez Tabernero in 1884. Following his death in 1911, it was divided among his children, with one lot going to Don Graciliano Pérez-Tabernero. In 1920, he removed all the cattle and bought a lot of more than 100 females and two breeding bulls from Conde de Santa Coloma. In 1939, most of the herd was sold to Don José Escobar Barrilaro, while the brand, a small number of females and one breeding bull were retained and advertised as Hijos de D. Graciliano Pérez-Tabernero. In 1962, the lot belonging to his wife was sold to Don Javier Sánchez Ferrero. It was later acquired by Don Germán Pimentel Gamazo and Don Matías San Román Fraile, who advertised it as Jarales de Huelmos and sold it in 1973 to Don Juan Luis and Don Nicolás Fraile Martín. Following Don Juan Luis’s death in 1999, it began to be advertised under his heirs’ name. Following Don Juan Luis’s death in 1999, ownership passed to his heirs, retaining the name D. Juan Luis Fraile y Martín.
