- History
- The herd was established in 1930 on the “Jandilla” estate by D. Juan Pedro Domecq y Núñez de Villavicencio, with cows and breeding bulls from the Marqués de Tamarón and the Conde de la Corte, both of Parladé origin and the Vistahermosa bloodline. From its founding until his death in 1975, it was managed by D. Juan Pedro Domecq y Díez, and its cattle were fought under the Veragua brand until 1982. In 1978, shortly after the death of D. Juan Pedro Domecq y Díez, nine tenths of the herd were transferred from the Veragua brand to the current one, and the cattle began appearing under the name “Jandilla” in 1983. From 1975 to 1986 it was managed by his son D. Fernando Domecq y Solís. From 1987, when D. Fernando founded his own breeding ranch, management passed to his brother D. Francisco de Borja Domecq y Solís, who handed over to his son Francisco de Borja Domecq Noguera in 2016. He continues to breed fighting bulls today on the “LOS QUINTOS” and “DON TELLO” estates. The Juan Pedro herd, whose blood runs through numerous present-day Spanish and American herds, has spread to every country where fighting bulls are bred. The star brand was created in 1943 by the sisters doña Serafina and doña Enriqueta Moreno de la Cova, with cattle from their parents' Saltillo-origin herds. It was bought in 1970 by D. Juan Pedro Domecq y Díez, who removed all the cattle. From the “DON TELLO” estate in Mérida (Badajoz), “GANADERÍA JANDILLA” sends lots of bulls to bullrings throughout Spain and abroad.
