History
It descends from the herd established by the Marqués de la Conquista with Jijona cattle, which passed to the matador Francisco Arjona “Cúchares” in partnership with D. Santiago Martínez. Cúchares’s share was acquired by D. Mauricio Rosendo, from whom it passed in 1868 to D. Carlos López Navarro. Later owned by his widow, it was sold to the Herrera Olea family, who sold it in 1909 to D. Luis Baeza. D. Pacomio Marín acquired it from him in 1917 and added two annual groups of cattle from D. Julián Fernández Martínez and cows from Veragua in 1928, removing all the previous stock. On D. Pacomio’s death in 1938, his widow Dª Francisca Marcos inherited it. In 1944 it was divided among their children, with one lot going to Dª Micaela Marín Marcos. That lot was acquired the same year by D. Primitivo Valdeolivas González, from whom D. Juan Pablo Jiménez Pasquau bought it in 1971. In 1972 the previous cattle were gradually removed and the herd was formed solely with D. Samuel Flores stock. In 1989 cows and a stud bull were bought from Jandilla. Further purchases in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1996 added cows from El Torreón, Salvador Domecq and Luis Algarra of the same bloodline, together with two Juan Pedro Domecq stud bulls in 1991 and 1994 and one from Algarra in 1996. All the D. Samuel Flores cattle were removed. In 2017, 30 Jandilla cows were bought from D. Borja Domecq Solís, followed in 2022 by another lot of 10 cows from D. Borja Domecq Noguera.
