History
One of the lots into which the herd founded by D. Gil de Flores in the late eighteenth century was divided went to D. Ramos Flores, then successively to D. Julián Flores and D. Sabino Flores. After the latter’s death, his widow sold it in 1927 to D. Luis Melgarejo Tordesillas, who in turn sold it to D. Demetrio and D. Ricardo Ayala in 1932. In 1940 it was acquired by D. Manuel Martín Alonso, who sold it in 1941 to the Ortega Estévez family. D. Rafael Bernal Encabo bought it in 1947, and D. Ignacio Pérez-Tabernero Sánchez acquired it from him in 1958. He retained the brand, removed all the previous stock and formed the herd with his father’s cattle of Santa Coloma origin. In 1963 he acquired from D. Joaquín Buendía a three-year-old bull named “Fuentecillo”, which had been tested and retested at the tienta. D. Joaquín also lent him several stud bulls between 1965 and 1967. In 2001 the current owner acquired only the rights to the brand, changing its design, colours and ear mark and forming the herd with cows and stud bulls from D. Daniel Ruiz Yagüe.
