- History
- D. Andrés Sánchez de Coquilla established this ranch in 1901 with cattle from Udaeta, Veragua and Carreros. In 1916, he eliminated all the previous stock and rebuilt the herd with cows and breeding bulls from the Conde de Santa Coloma and Albaserrada. It later passed to his son D. Francisco Sánchez de Coquilla, who had to part with it in 1934, when it was at its peak. One of the four lots into which it was divided was acquired by D. Justo Sánchez-Tabernero, who registered it under his children’s names. In 1951, it was divided into three lots, one of which went to D. Alfonso Sánchez Fabrés, before appearing under his heirs’ names from 1973. In 1993, the original herd was substantially reduced and expanded with cows and breeding bulls from Sepúlveda. In 1997, D. Juan Albarrán Marín acquired the brand rights and established the ranch by purchasing 50% of D. José Luis Pereda’s entire herd, allocated by a draw.
