- History
- This herd was founded in 1941 by Don Esteban Sánchez Martín de Valverde with cattle from Don Lorenzo Rodríguez of Gamero Cívico origin. In 1960, the Martín Aparicio brothers bought it, later adding cattle from Don Juan Antonio Álvarez of Contreras origin and breeding bulls of the same origin. They changed the brand, removed the earlier cattle and entered the new herd as Carreros, which their grandfather had founded in 1880. From 1982, its numbers were considerably reduced, and in 1993 it became the exclusive property of Don Juan Carlos Martín Aparicio. In 1994, Juan Manuel Criado, S.L. acquired the rights to the brand, changed the brand, earmark and ribbon colours, and established the herd with half of Don Luis Algarra Polera's cows, purchased following allocation by drawing lots.
