- History
- Founded in 1898 by Don Celso Pellón with cattle from Adalid, Conradi and Ibarra, the herd was sold to Don Genaro López Quijano in 1908 and then to Don José de la Cova. In 1930, he expanded it with a lot of cows of Urquijo origin and a breeding bull from Conde de la Corte. A lot of Villamarta females was acquired in 1941. In 1946, the herd was split into two lots, one going to Don José de la Cova Benjumea, who introduced a new brand. In 1952, he added a lot from Arruza, originating from Don Felipe Bartolomé and Don Joaquín Buendía, and in 1953 a breeding bull from Don Isaías and Don Tulio Vázquez. In 1978, the herd was reduced and acquired by García Galán and Morán Gómez. From 1981, the former remained sole owner, advertising it as La Castilleja. In 1982, he removed all previous cattle and acquired a lot of Urquijo-origin animals from the Martínez Elizondo family and another of the same origin from the Martínez Uranga family.
