History
Founded in the early nineteenth century by D. Andrés Sánchez de Terrones with cattle from various sources, the ranch passed in 1862 to his son D. Ildefonso Sánchez Tabernero, who added a group of cows from Gaviria and breeding bulls from the widow of López Navarro. On his death it passed to his widow and later to his son D. Santiago Sánchez, who expanded it with cattle inherited from his father-in-law D. Juan Muriel and breeding bulls from Contreras. The ranch passed to his daughters Carlota and María Sánchez Muriel in 1931. In 1975, the Martínez Uranga family acquired Dª María's share. In 1979 they bought a substantial group of females and breeding bulls from D. Carlos Urquijo de Federico. D. José Pocoví acquired it in 1989 and sold it in 1992 to Dª Ana Melcón Gutiérrez, who advertised it as Pablo Vázquez and established the herd with cows and breeding bulls from Jandilla. In 1996 Agropecuaria Las Monjas, S.A. acquired the ranch, which was advertised under D. Manuel Morilla's name. In 2002, D. Manuel Bajo García acquired all the shares in Agropecuaria Las Monjas, S.A., owner of the D. Manuel Morilla ranch, and it began to be advertised as Las Monjas.
