History
In 1962, D. Leonardo Arroyo Albarrán applied to join the Grupo de Criadores de Toros de Lidia through its admission trials, using the herd he had established with cattle bought from Gandarias and the widow of Cruz. He began the trials by presenting his first novillada at Vista Alegre, followed by others in Málaga, Guadalajara and Valencia, and a bullfight in Barcelona in 1965. All produced acceptable results, and he was admitted to the association on 22 September 1965. He later bought a Buendía-origin breeding bull from D. Laurentino Carrascosa. In 1980 he bought two Carlos Nuñez-origin breeding bulls from D. Alejandro Martín. In 1984 he bought a crop of yearling heifers of the same origin from him. In 1999 the few remaining cattle of Buendía origin were removed, retaining only those descended from Carlos Núñez. In 2000 two separate lines were created within the herd. In 2002, a lot of females and a breeding bull from the “Navalrosal” herd, of “Núñez” origin, were added to one line. Several breeding bulls of “Domecq” origin were added to the second line during those years.
