History
This herd was founded in 1842 by D. Juan Miura with cattle from Antonio Gil, later joined by another large lot of cows from D. José Luis Alvareda, all originating from D. Francisco Gallardo. In 1850 and 1852 cattle were added from Dª Jerónima Núñez de Prado, widow of Cabrera, followed in 1854 by stud bulls from D. José Arias de Saavedra (Vistahermosa). When D. Juan died in 1855, it was advertised under his widow’s name and later passed to his eldest son, D. Antonio Miura. On Antonio’s death in 1893, his brother D. Eduardo took over. His sons D. Antonio and D. José inherited it in 1917 and advertised it as Hijos de don Eduardo Miura. In late 1940 D. Antonio and D. José transferred it to their son and nephew D. Eduardo Miura Fernández. On his death in 1996, his sons D. Eduardo and D. Antonio Miura inherited it and presented their bulls as Hijos de D. Eduardo Miura. In 2002 the herd began to be advertised as Miura.
