History
Don Luis Gamero Cívico acquired the herd in the late 19th century, advertised it under the name of his son Don José Gamero Cívico y Torres, and established it with cattle from Parladé. It passed to the Goizueta brothers in 1918, then to Don Antonio Pérez, who sold it to Don Andrés López Chaves in 1920. Don Fabián Mangas acquired it in 1926 and sold it to Don Lorenzo Rodríguez in 1928. In 1946, Don Pío Tabernero de Paz bought it with most of the cattle, changed the brand and advertised it as Pío Tabernero de Vilvis. That same year, he bought a lot of females from Don Juan José Ramos Matías, followed by a lot from the heirs of Galache in 1954 and another from Don Arturo Sánchez y Sánchez in 1958. In 1982, the Martínez Flamarique family acquired it, changed the brand and advertised it as La Ermita. Ownership changed in 2000, retaining the brand, earmark and colours, and the herd was established with cattle from Hijos de Pablo Martínez Elizondo. In 2000 and 2001, the current herd was also expanded with cows and breeding bulls from Herederos de D. Atanasio Fernández Iglesias. In 2002, 50 cows and breeding bulls from El Torreón were added. In November 2013, Monte la Ermita 2013 acquired the herd, removed all the existing cattle and re-established it with cattle bearing Doña Carmen Segovia’s colours, of Torrestrella origin. In 2016, 50 cows and 6 males were acquired from Ángel Luis Peña, of Jandilla origin. Subsequently, 475 animals were acquired from El Ventorrillo, of Juan Pedro Domecq origin.
