History
The herd was founded in 1943 by Dª Amalia and D. Alberto Márquez Martín with cows bought from the Marqués de Villabrágima, of Villamarta origin, and breeding bulls from D. Félix Moreno, descended from Saltillo. In 1965 it was sold to the Lacave brothers, who already advertised it as Torrealta, and in 1969 it passed to the Domecq Rivero brothers. In 1979, D. Manuel Prado y Colón de Carvajal and Doña Paloma Eulate Aznar bought the Torrealta breeding ranch. They removed all cattle of Marqués de Domecq origin and acquired cows from María Isabel Ybarra and Torrestrella. In 1985 they bought breeding bulls from Jandilla and Torrestrella. In 1990 it became the sole property of Dª Paloma Eulate Aznar, who introduced fresh blood by using Juan Pedro Domecq breeding bulls. In 2013, Borja Prado Eulate acquired Torrealta and again introduced fresh blood, using breeding bulls from three of the leading ranches of the time: Garcigrande, Victoriano del Río and Santiago Domecq.
