- History
- This herd was created in 1996 through the division of the Sotillo Gutiérrez brand’s inheritance, under Article 6 of the UCTL statutes. It consisted of the Domecq-blood lots acquired in 1992 from Jandilla, Zalduendo and Toros del Torero, later expanded with cows and stud bulls from El Torreón. In 2002 Valdellán, S.A.U. acquired only the rights to the brand, changed its design, ear mark and colours and formed a herd with 80 cows and two stud bulls from Hoyo de la Gitana. After most of the Hoyo de la Gitana cattle had been removed, 28 cows and 15 untested two-year-old heifers from Dª Pilar Población del Castillo were added in 2005 and 2006. This is now the predominant bloodline.
