History
The ranch was established in 1914 by D. Álvaro Dávila y Agreda, Marqués de Villamarta, with cows from Murube, Urcola and Medina Garvey and breeding bulls from Parladé; cattle from the Conde de Santa Coloma were added later. After the marquis died, the ranch was divided. In 1941, one lot, together with the original brand, went to his son D. Alvaro Dávila Garvey, who had inherited the title. Following his death in 1972, the ranch appeared under his heirs’ names. In 1980, Sociedad Anónima Garcibravo acquired it and used its own name while retaining the same brand, ear mark, ribbon colours and seniority date. In October 1996, the ranch began appearing as Villamarta. In 1998, a group of pure Villamarta cows carrying the brand of Hros. de D. Manuel Álvarez was purchased.
