Bullfighting returns to Villanueva with José Mauricio and Calita

The Ponciano Díaz bullring welcomes bullfighting back on 28 October with a head-to-head between José Mauricio and Ernesto Javier “Calita”. The event is part of the Feria Regional de Villanueva, held during the festivities honouring San Judas Tadeo.

This event marks the return of bullfights to the town after the break that began in 2023. Feria Toro is organising the occasion at the Ponciano Díaz bullring, bringing Villanueva’s fans back together during the local festivities.
Four bulls for a head-to-head
José Mauricio and Calita will share four bulls from Boquilla del Carmen. The line-up brings together two Mexican matadors and a ranch from Zacatecas, with the head-to-head format and the bullring’s return to activity at the heart of the occasion.
